Madagascar Palm Care Guide

The Madagascar palm can handle dry conditions and heat well but doesn't like frost, so keep it indoors during winter.

Soil: Use loose soil that drains well and isn't too rich. Soil mixes made for cacti or succulents are good choices.

Temperature: It can handle short periods of temperatures as low as 40 degrees Fahrenheit, but it prefers warmer weather.

Water: Occasional, deep watering. Let the soil dry completely between waterings. You can check by sticking your finger in the soil or using a moisture meter. It’s better to err on the side of underwatering than overwatering.

Sun: Full sun to partial shade.

If kept Indoors: Keep away from frosty windows. Indoor light requirements are bright indirect or direct light. Can use a grow light to supplement light requirements indoors.

Warning: The plant has a sap that's poisonous if ingested. But it's protected by sharp spines, so even pets are unlikely to mess with it.
